[www.inewsguyana.com] – Bandits early this morning (Saturday, June, 28), robbed a Whim, Corentyne family of a number of livestock.
iNews was informed that around 02:00 hrs two armed men invaded the Whim home, broke into their pen and carted off with five goats and one sheep.
The family claimed they heard strange sounds coming from the pen and went outside to inquire when they came face to face with two men who opened fire. No one was hurt although some six rounds were fired.
The men made good their escape with the animals in a waiting vehicle.
The family requested that they are only identified by their last name ‘Purmaul’ over fears that the bandits may return.
They also told iNews that what angered them even more was the failure of the police at the Whim Police Station to respond to their calls. They claim approximately 40 phone calls to the station went unanswered.
The fearful family said they could not sleep for the rest of the morning, however, around 7:00 hrs a lone CID rank visited the home to investigate the matter.
The family is calling on the police to be more vigilant and patrol the area to ensure the safety of residents there.
