[www.inewsguyana.com] – A number of residents from Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, staged a protest on Monday (February 17) for better roads and for their community to be equipped with telephone lines.
Residents claimed that they applied to the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) for telephone lines since 2004.
According to one resident, a representative from the telephone company indicated to the group that their village is not on the map to get landlines at the point in time.
Meanwhile, the residents have also voiced their concern over the current state of their roads. The residents say a contractor who was doing works on the sea defence damaged the road and they now have to suffer.
