[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – two – year old Terry Phillips of Tucville Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with possession of a gun and ammunition. Phillips pleaded not guilty to both charges.
It is alleged that on September 16 at Avenue of the Republic, the accused had one revolver and three matching rounds in his possession and at the time he had no license.
After requesting to speak with the Magistrate, Phillips told the court that he was traveling in a car, which was stopped and searched by police during which they found nothing.
According the accused, the gun and ammunition were found minutes later along the side of the car. However, Police Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt told the court that the gun and ammunition were found in possession of the accused. The prosecutor later objected to bail noting that there is no special reason raised by the accused for bail to be granted. Based on the information presented in court the Magistrate refused bail and Phillips will make his next court appearance on October 4. [Royan Abrams]
