The Florida based Jamaican got off to a fast start, took control of the race then cruised to the line, obviously slowing down.

Okera Myrie, the other Jamaican in the event, failed to advance after she finished fourth in her semi-final heat in 11.69 seconds (0.3m/s).

Twanisha Terry of the United Sates leads all qualifiers with a Championships Record 11.03 seconds (0.4m/s) as she won the first semi-final, putting down the marker for the others to follow.

The new mark broke the record 11.07 seconds set by another American Candace Brown two years ago in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The final is set for 9:15pm (1:15pm Jamaican time). (Jamaica Observer)
