Two Patentia, West Bank Demerara (WBD), residents were placed on $30,000 bail each following their appearance at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on counter charges.
First was 28-year old unemployed Melissa Duncan, who was accused of damaging Deopattie Singh’s gold chain worth $80,000 on September 18, 2018, at Patentia, WBD, where they both reside.
She entered a plea of not guilty after the Police prosecutor applied to have the indictable matter tried in the Magistrate’s Court. Her alleged opponent, Singh, a seller, was similarly accused of damage to property, with Police stating she damaged Duncan’s mobile phone on the same day in question. The device was valued at $33,000.
Singh, 36, was also accused of assaulting Duncan but she denied both charges. The women will both return to court on December 20, 2018, as the matter continues before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
