(Trinidad Express) A 28-year-old mother of one was found dead inside her home at Thompson Street, Gasparillo yesterday.
Ornella Philips, mother of an eight year old girl stricken with cerebral palsy, was discovered lying in the living room at around 10am.
She was shot once in the chest.
Police believe the woman was killed some time in the night.
Philips was last seen alive when she dropped off her daughter, Kayla, at her mother’s apartment at around 11.30pm Saturday
Her mother, Joanne Seepersad, lives in an apartment in the same building.
Police said a young man from the area went to the house and found Philips’ body.
He told officers that the front door to the woman’s apartment was slightly opened.
The teenager said he looked inside and saw the woman’s feet. He ran to the back of the house and called out to Philip’s mother.
Investigators believe Philips was killed by someone she knew.
