[www.inewsguyana.com] – An angry Judy Ross appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, August 13, charged with unlawfully and maliciously setting her lover’s house on fire while he was still inside.
Ross, 33, of Diamond Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara is accused of setting the house ablaze on August 09, after Jermaine McPherson allegedly slapped her. She pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $100,000 bail.
The woman is slated to make her next court appearance at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on August 18. The Court heard that McPherson, who is a miner by profession, placed Ross on a table and dealt her slap to her face after she told him she was moving out.
Meanwhile, McPherson of 25-94 Tucville, Georgetown was arraigned before Magistrate McLennan on an assault charge, to which he pleaded guilty. He was fined $5,000 and with an alternative of a week in prison if he does not pay.

Just read he had to pay a fine or one week in prison. That is opinion is not enough. Eddie the article I read did not mention he was charged and had to pay a fine or jail time. Thank you for pointing that out.

This is why there is so much abuse going on in GT. He gets a $5000 fine or one week in prison for physical abuse to this woman. There is something wrong with the justice system.
When a man hit a woman he should expect any thing in return…burn the damn house down yes.!!…question will he be charge for assult??
