Trisha Persaud, 21, of Tuschen Housing Scheme today pleaded guilty to stealing one blackberry phone valued $70,000 property of Amit Ramdat.
According to the prosecution the accused and the complainant were friends and Persaud often visits Ramdat’s work place. The court heard that on the day in question Ramdat left his office, leaving the accused and his phone behind.
When he returned the woman was gone and so was his phone. The matter was reported and the accused was subsequently charged with simple larceny. The magistrate sentenced the woman to 18 months in prison. [Royan Abrams]
