[www.inewsguyana.com] – A woman was killed on the spot after she was hit by a motor lorry on the Hampton Court Public Road, Essequibo Coast on Wednesday evening (October 17).
Dead is 42-year-old Nalini Sasenarine commonly called ‘Peppy’ of Hampton Court. According to an eyewitness, the woman who residents say is an alcoholic was walking along the road at about 20:00hrs when she suddenly ran across the road into the path of a motor lorry that was heading north along the roadway.
According to reports, the driver of the lorry swerved from hitting the woman but to no avail. The loud impact of the accident sent scores of persons rushing from their homes to the scene where the woman lay unconsciously.
She was however picked up by the driver of the canter and other public spirited citizens and rushed to the Suddie Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
