[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 26 – year – old cook charged with attempted murder was ordered to post $300,000 bail at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 16.
Kim Carter of Lot 8 Schoonard Housing Scheme, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the offence before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
It is alleged that on February 12 at Kuturing Backdam, Mazaruni River, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Richard Rabindra, with intent to commit murder.
Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the Court that both the accused and the victim are employees of the same camp. The Court heard that on the day in question both parties were consuming alcohol, when Carter asked Rabindra to dance with her.
Mangru said that after Rabindra refused to dance, Carter called him a girl and he became annoyed and dealt her a slap. It is reported that Carter went away and returned with a knife and stabbed Rabindra.
The Police Prosecutor did not object to bail of Carter, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Melville Duke. He told the Court that his client was slapped to her ear and received a cut to one of her fingers on the left hand.
The mother of one will make her next Court appearance at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on February 26.
