Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 33-year-old woman following claims of her being crushed by a tractor on Monday afternoon at “4 Hour Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region 7.”
Dead is Gleieiane Almedia Ferreira, unemployed, of lot ‘C’ Grove Truck Line, East Bank Demerara and Brazil.
According to information received, the woman met her demise around 16:30hrs as she and her reputed husband, a 45-year-old miner of lot ‘C’ Grove Truck Line, East Bank Demerara were heading to Dukwari Landing, Cuyuni on a motor tractor.
Police reports indicate that the woman was sitting on the left side fender of the moving vehicle when she fell off of the tractor as it was approaching a steep hill and subsequently toppled.
The now dead woman’s husband told police that he managed to save himself from the toppling tractor but was then met with he sight of Ferreira lying motionless with what appeared to be tractor wheel marks about her body.
The man is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
