[www.inewsguyana.com] – Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams continues to roll at the start of the cycling season with yet another win on Sunday in the 24th annual R&R International 40-mile road race on the West Demerara roadways.
Williams separated from the final 300 metres of the race to cross the line first in a time of hour, 38 minutes, 59 seconds. Alanzo Greaves finished second while Hamzah Eastman, Raul Leal, Michael Anthony and Christopher Holder finished in that order.
With Sunday’s event attracting 51 starters, the juniors got into the action with Jamal John winning the junior category. Andrew Hicks was second while Jaleel Jackson finished third.
Keon Thomas won the Mountain Bike event ahead of Seon Budhan and Ozia McAullay while Junior Niles won the veteran over-50.
The cycling season will continue on Saturday, February 14 with the staging of the R&R International 11-race programme at the inner circuit of the National Park.
