(Trinidad Express) Having admitted to chopping his wife after consuming too much alcohol, Wahid Hosein, 45, will go to prison until at least Monday, when he will be sentenced.
Hosein appeared in the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court in T&T on Wednesday charged with malicious wounding. Court prosecutor Ramdath Phillip read that on September 28 at his Mungal Trace, Woodland, Hosein got into an argument with his wife, Nadia Hosein.
He then hit her about her body with a cutlass, which resulted in injuries to her left index and middle finger. A report was made to police constable Mohess at the San Fernando Police Station, and the woman to seek medical attention.
Phillip said the police received the medical report on October 25. Phillip said PC Mohess met Hosein who admitted he came home drunk and got into a scuffle with his wife. Hosein told Acting deputy chief magistrate Nannette Forde-John he was sorry and he and his wife had six children together. He said: “I was really drunk that day and we were quarrelling about a phone number.”
Magistrate Forde-John said Hosein had two previous and pending matters. She said she wanted a probation officer to get involved in the matter. He was remanded in prison custody to reappear on November 1. (By Innis Francis)
