[www.inewsguyana.com] – The West Indies under 19 team will tomorrow take the field against the combined campuses and colleges as they heighten preparations for the International Cricket Council’s under 19 world cup.
The unit which has acquired a new captain in Guyanese Stephan Jacobs will also get some amount of training for their NAGICO super 50 tournament which begins in just over six days.
The under 19’s began preparations on Wednesday and also had a full session yesterday and today. Head coach Roddy Estwick told the WICB media yesterday that the team has to work hard and get in as much time as possible, identifying their errors and correcting them as they go along.
This year’s ICC under-19 cricket world cup will feature 16 teams in four groups, with the windies drawn alongside South Africa, Zimbabwe and Canada in group C.
Their opening preliminary match is against the Proteas on Friday, February 14 at the Dubai international stadium.
The second match is on Sunday, February 16 against Zimbabwe at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with the third two days later against the Canadians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery ground one.
