According to reports out of Bangladesh, while the grounds men were trying to mop up the stadium, the umpires had decided that it was impossible to restart their semi Final match, thus letting Sri Lanka through.
At the crease when his side was hailed out, was Captain Darren Sammy who was yet to come off the mark and Marlon Samuels made 18 off 29 balls.
When the rains came down, the side was at 84/4 still in need of 81 runs off 37 balls with 6 wickets in hand and behind the Duckworth Lewis method by 27 runs.

Earlier, Lahiru Thirimanne and Angelo Matthews built on the works of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kusal Perera to blaze a trail ending on 160 for the loss of 6 off their 20 overs.
Thirimanne scored 44 off 35 balls while Mathews Made 40 off 23, Dilshan scored 39 off 39 and perera 26.
Krishmar Santokie ended with two wickets while Samuel Badree and Andre Russell had one wicket each.
Sri lanka will now await the winner of tomorrow’s semi final which will see South Africa and India.
