Windies spinner and Digicel brand Ambassador Devendra Bishoo, who will also be playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament, along with Guyana Jaguars head coach Esuan Crandon and other coaches from within the Jaguars system conducted a fun-filled day of coaching and training at the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground for potential cricketers at the Digicel/CPL Youth Series.
The annual event is part of Digicel’s drive to target grassroots cricket by virtue of having the potential cricketers interact with some of the local stars who have gone on to make it big on the international circuit.
Bishoo, who is home ahead of the two ODI’s versus Bangladesh at Providence, said he was delighted to help change and encourage the lives of upcoming cricketers.
The leg-spinner further pointed out that it was important for international cricketers to meet with young players and encourage them as they were once young and looking for guidance themselves.
Meanwhile, Communications Manager of Digicel Guyana, Vidya Sanichara said that the day was very important to the 80 students of the West Demerara Secondary School who were the beneficiaries of Phase 2 of the of the Youth Series.
The students meanwhile engaged in lengthy sessions with the Windies spinner while other groups took part in bowling and fielding sessions.
Meanwhile, with the 2018 CPL tournament just weeks away (August 8), the first three home matches are scheduled to be played at the Providence Stadium as follows:
