Two men are presently being treated at the Fort Wellington Hospital in Berbice, after they were involved in a confrontation on Wednesday, October 05, 2016, and they began chopping each other at Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice.
The two men are identified as a 53-year-old Cane Cutter, Ishwar Persaud, and a 40-year-old fisherman, Chandrapaul Narine.
Reports indicate that both men reside at Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice.
It is alleged that at approximately 17:00hrs on Wednesday, Persaud and his brother were involved in an argument. Narine subsequently intervened and struck Ishwar with a piece of wood.
However, Persaud did not retaliate to this attack and instead requested that Narine discontinue his abusive behavior.
Narine refused to do so and it was when Persaud left to go home, that Narine followed and dealt him two chops to his head. Persaud responded by grabbing a cutlass and chopping Narine to his head and eye.
Shortly after, they were admitted to the Fort Wellington Hospital.
