A senior official attached to the Wales Sugar Estate, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is now badly traumatised after he and his wife were held at gun-point along with their two young children at their home last evening.
INews understands that the man, his wife and their two children (ages five and six) had their hands and feet tied by a gunman who robbed the family of cash and valuables.
According to a police source, investigators are still trying to determine the number of perpetrators who were involved in this crime. They are also not ruling out that this act may have been in retaliation to the closing of the Wales Sugar Estate.
“We are not ruling anything out; it could have been a robbery or it could be that people are upset with the closure and blaming the senior ones at the Estate for it. We are still investigating, so it would not be prudent to speculate at this time. Thankfully nobody was physically harmed during this ordeal,” the officer stated.
INews will provide more details on this story as they become available.
