[www.inewsguyana.com] A 19-year-old of Eccles East Bank Demerara man, accused of robbing a ‘wake house’ was today (Thursday, May 22)  refused bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Kurt Simeon pleaded not guilty to both charges, one of which stated that on April 14 at Shell Road, Kitty, being in company of others and armed with a gun he robbed Shahab Alli of $200,000 cash and one Blackberry cellular phone together valued at $223,000.

Particulars of the charge alleged that on the same day at Shell Road, he also robbed Anandkishore Sunilall of one Ice Mobile Cellular phone valued $7,000.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones, told the Court that the defendant along with two other unidentified armed males went to the ‘wake house’ and robbed several persons. Among the several persons that were robbed, only two reported the matter to the Police. The defendant was pointed out at Hogg Street, Albouystown by one of the victims after the Police was summoned.

The Prosecutor objected to bail, citing the seriousness and prevalence of the offence which was upheld by Magistrate McLennan.

He was represented by Attorney-at-Law George Thomas, who lamented that his client is being framed by one of the victim who is known to him.

Thomas also objected to the ‘one-man’ Identification Parade that his client was placed on.

Simeon was remanded to prison and the case was put off to May 29.
