Wainwright McIntosh of the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has been elected the new Mayor of New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
His deputy is Kirk Fraser, also of APNU.
APNU has eight seats on the council while the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) has six.
