Quick action by ranks attached to the Sparendaam Police Station led to the recovery of a stolen motorcar belonging to a businessman who was robbed of his car and other valuables in the wee hours of this morning.
Reports are that Marlon Sommerset, who hails from Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was closing up his business when the robbery took place.
INews was told that the incident occurred around 02:00h today and that one gun toting bandit along with two accomplices managed to make good their escape in Sommerset’s car after they took valuables from him.
According to a statement from the police this afternoon, investigators are in pursuit of the suspects who are still at large.
This online publication was reliably informed that law enforcement officials are aware of the identity of two of the culprits after Sommerset reported the incident stating that they are known to him.
His motor car was recovered shortly after the robbery when ranks who were patrolling the area found the vehicle after it was ditched by the bandits.
Investigations are presently on-going into the matter and it is expected that arrests will be made soon.
