The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will now be headed by a new Executive Management Committee under the stewardship of its recently elected President, Vishnu Doerga.
During the election for the Executive Management Committee for the year 2016/2017 held earlier this week at the GCCI, Doerga, who was the former First Vice President of the Chamber, was named as its new President.
Meanwhile, Padma Kunjbeharry of Ansa McAl Trading Limited (Guyana) has been elected to the post of Senior Vice President and Nicolas Boyer of National Hardware Limited was named as Junior Vice President of the Chamber.
The Secretary elected is Allison Butters-Grant from Global Seafood Distributors and Shanti Persaud of Silvie’s Variety Store was named as the Treasurer.
It should be noted that the immediate Past President of the GCCI is Lance Hinds from the BrainStreet Group.
At the statutory meeting on Monday last, the GCCI’s report stated that the financial performance of the Chamber which ended December 31, 2015 was “favourable”.
Last year, the Chamber’s income totaled $25M for the year 2015 with the total expenditure amounting to $23.3M.
