The pilot of the private plane that crashed off the South Bimini Airport and an airplane mechanic have been identified as the two who lost their lives in the accident on Sunday evening, according to online news agency Caribbean360.

Reports are that Terrence ‘Tango’ Gibson was piloting the twin-engine aircraft when it went down shortly after 4 p.m., after taking off from the airport in the Bahamian island. The plane crashed in the bushes adjacent to the runway.

His only passenger was Anthony Smith.

Reports indicate that the two were testing the plane which had just undergone repairs.

Bahamas’ Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin told Parliament yesterday that the bodies were being taken to New Providence.

Civil Aviation Department Accident Investigation representatives yesterday began investigations into the crash.

“A formal report will be forthcoming as soon as circumstances permit,” the Minister of Transport and Aviation said, according to Caribbean360.
