The Venezuelan woman, who was arrested after she was seen running from a camp in the Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) Backdam where a male was found dead with stabbed wounds, has confessed to Police that she stabbed the victim three times.
The incident occurred sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning when ‘Sunny’ (only name given) was discovered dead in his hammock at a camp at Kumung Kumung Backdam, Region Seven.
According to the police, the suspect, Orianma Naomi Silva Figuera, was interviewed by detectives at the Bartica Police Station on Saturday, during which she admitted to stabbing the victim with a retractable knife that she had in her possession.
During the interview, she was cautioned by the Police and told of the allegation of the Murder of ‘Sunny’, to which she admitted whilst stating that the deceased had attacked her earlier in the night in question when she refused to dance with him at a shop Kumung Kumung.
The suspect further stated that she went to the victim’s camp later that night, where she saw him lying in a hammock. She took a retractable knife and dealt ‘Sunny’ three stabs about his body.
She’s presently in custody as the investigation continues.
