Twenty – six – year old Wayne Griffith of Tucville Georgetown was yesterday charged with the offence of simple larceny. During his appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry, the vendor pleaded guilty.
According to the allegations, on Water Street Georgetown, he stole one Gold Chain valued $180,000 property of Bibi Khan. According to the prosecutor, the complainant was walking South along Water Street when she was confronted by the accused, who snatched her chain.
The prosecutor said Griffith then dealt the woman several cuffs about her body and made good his escape. Based on the prevalence and the penalty the offence attracts, the prosecutor objected to bail. The accused was then remanded to prison until September 13. [Royan Abrams]
