[www.inewsguyana.com] – A vendor of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for trafficking narcotics.
Junior Caesar pleaded not guilty to the charge, particulars of which noted that on Sunday, February 23 at Main Street, Georgetown, he had 84 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that on the day in question the defendant was sitting in front of Hotel Tower, when police ranks observed him acting in a suspicious manner. A search was carried out on his personand a black plastic bag containing the substance was found on the ground next to him.
The Prosecutor objected to bail citing that no special reason was raised by the defendant for bail to be granted. The matter was transferred before Magistrate Judy Latchman for report and fixtures on March 5.
