One day after being stabbed by a teenager at Ammokopai Village, Upper Mazaruni River, following an alleged misunderstanding, a 23-year-old Farmer has succumbed to his injuries.
Dead is Hernan Leman of Ammokopai Village, Upper Mazaruni River.
Based on police information, the incident occurred at about 16:00h on Sunday.
INews understands that Leman and the 18-year-old suspect were acquainted with each other since they both reside in the same village.
On the day in question, the now deceased man reportedly confronted the suspect who had allegedly beaten his [Lemans’s] younger brother.
However, during the argument, the teenager allegedly whipped out a knife and stabbed Leman once to his abdomen, causing him to collapse.
In retaliation, the now deceased man’s younger brother reportedly picked up the said weapon and dealt the suspect a stab to his back.
The duo were rushed to the Kamarang Regional Hospital where they were examined and admitted in critical conditions.
This online publication was told that at about 09:15h on Monday, while the two injured men were awaiting air transportation to be brought to Georgetown for treatment, Leman died.
The deceased’s brother is presently in police custody.
