The University of Guyana Biology student who was struck down by a motor car on the East Coast Public road on Monday, has regained consciousness and is responding reasonably well to treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
A source at the GPHC told INews earlier today that the young lady is now out of harm’s way, but noted that the road to recovery could be a very long way ahead since her injuries were severe.
According to reports, Keneisha Sim, was attempting to cross the road on her way to her job at Qualfon, when she was hit by a speeding car.
An eyewitness revealed to INews that a mini-bus had stopped to allow the young woman to cross the road, but the car which was attempting to overtake the minibus struck her down, resulting in the woman receiving severe injuries.
In an unconscious state, Sim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The driver of the motor car has since been taken into custody and is assisting police with the investigations.
