Police have confirmed that a 38-year-old resident of Ketley Street, Georgetown was arrested a few hours ago in connection with the killing of a Charlestown man this morning.
Reports indicate that at approximately 06:45hrs today, Michael Payne of lot 6 Drysdale Street, Charlestown was gunned down in La Penitence Street, Albouystown, Georgetown as he was in the process of collecting his cousin’s bicycle from a house in the area.
Payne was reportedly shot three times- to the head, chest and upper left arm, by the suspect who immediately fled the scene.
INews understands that the dead man’s cousin and the suspect were involved in an altercation on Thursday night when the apprehended man identified only as “Beggar” allegedly confiscated the man’s bicycle and dealt him several blows to his foot with a piece of wood.
The injured cousin then made a complaint to Payne, who decided to go to the suspect’s lot 85 La Penitence Street, Albouystown residence to retrieve the cycle. However, it was during this time that he was shot and killed.
When INews arrived at the home of the deceased, his relatives were still in shock at the manner in which he was killed.
