A fire this afternoon left the upper flat of the Da Silva’s Building completely burnt. iNews understands that the fire occurred sometime around 1:30hrs at the Middle Street, Georgetown location.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, since part of the Georgetown Public Hospital was under threat.
The office of Da Silva’s is on the lower flat of the building, while family members lived upstairs.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. However, iNews was reliably informed that the fire could have been caused by an air conditioning unit.
