[www.inewsguyana.com] – The young man who was shot in the head while in Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, has succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital, according to a police statement.
The police have identified him as 24 – year – old Jermaine Simon of 46 Norton Street, Bagotstown; however relatives had identified him to iNews as 22 – year – old Jermaine Roberts of Brutus Street, Agricola.
According to the police statement, the shooting occurred at approximately 20:30 hrs on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at Norton Street, Bagotstown. Investigators found that Simon was riding a bicycle and as he was passing in front of the suspect’s house, the suspect suddenly rushed out of his yard and discharged a round at the victim with a handgun, hitting him to his forehead.
Simon was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died whilst receiving treatment. The suspect not yet arrested. Investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, on March 16, 2015, police had issued a wanted bulletin for Simon in connection with the murder of Ryan Sooklall, a Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) teen.
According to reports, Sooklall was shot and killed while liming with friends in his neighbourhood, a short distance from where he lived on March 1. Sooklall died of a single gunshot wound in the back, at the hands of a man with whom he had a grouse over an alleged shooting earlier in the day.
