[www.inewsguyana.com] – The driver in the early morning accident in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara on Friday, December 13 died at the Georgetown Public Hospital last evening.
Police confirmed that 17 – year – old Ryan Britton of Da Silva Street, Kitty was driving motor car HC 1916 along the Mon Repos Railway Embankment, ECD, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the iron rail of a bridge.
According to the Police, Britton was not licensed to drive a hire car. iNews reported on Friday that the car was proceeding East along the embankment when it attempted to overtake another vehicle.
When iNews visited the scene, the entire left front side of the car was damaged. The railing of the bridge was situated in the entire front seat of the car which indicated that the driver was pinned for some time in the vehicle. Persons reportedly shattered the back window of the car to free the man.
The air bags were activated and the immediate area of the crash site was littered with shattered glass, music discs and other objects from within the car.
