Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms committed on two females at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara about 20:30hrs last night, where two handbags containing cash and valuables were stolen.
Enquiries disclosed that the women were visiting a relative and on arrival, a silver-coloured Toyota motor car pulled up and a suspect exited the vehicle, brandished a firearm and relieved the women of the said articles.
According to the Police, a relative, who witnessed the incident on his CCTV armed himself with his licensed firearm and fired several rounds at the bandit, who hastily re-joined the motor vehicle and made good his escape, seemingly unhurt.
Investigators are currently reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspect.
No arrest has yet been made.
