[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two persons are reportedly dead and three others including a 6 – year – old child are critical following an accident on the Phillipy Road, Corentyne Berbice tonight (Wednesday, June 11).
Some reports indicate that three persons died, however, iNews could only confirm two deaths.
Dead are 18 – year – old Latoya Bagot and her sister, Malkila Bagot, while their little sister, 6 – year – old Shamain Bagot along with other others are in a critical condition.
iNews understands that the three sisters were heading to a relative on the Phillipy Road, Corentyne when they were struck down by an alleged drunk driver, who sped away from the scene.
Eyewitnesses told iNews that before the driver slammed into the sisters, he struck down a pedal cyclist.
He then struck the sisters and slammed into another pedestrian further up the Corentyne. He was later arrested by the police and taken to the 51 police station
The girls’ cousins, Dellon and Rawldon told iNews that their mother recently left the country.
