Two Guyanese women charged for possession of AK – 47 in BVI

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two Guyanese women of Butu Mountain, British Virgin Islands were charged with the possession of unlicensed firearms.

According to reports, 29-year-old Sonja Williams was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition and one count of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm.

The other woman, Sandrine Williams, 25, was slapped with two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition, one count of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and one count of keeping a firearm.

Both were placed on bail to appear in the Magistrate’s Court on February 13.

BVI Police say that the find was made on February 05 by the RVIPF Special Investigations Team. In total the police discovered an AK47 assault rifle, a 9mm Taurus handgun and ammunition from an address in Butu Mountain.

The finding led to the arrest of three persons but the third remains in police custody pending further investigations. [ Extracted and edited from BVI PLATINUM NEWS]
