Two men were earlier today (Tuesday) charged with the gruesome murder of a Brazilian gold miner which occurred on February 9 2016 at Fish Creek, Cuyuni River, Region 8.
Phillip Williams and Fildel Williams were not required to plead to the indictable charge when they appeared at the Bartica Magistrate Court.
The duo was remanded to prison until tomorrow, January 10 2018.
INews had previously reported that one of the suspects had been arrested on Tuesday last, as homicide detectives revealed that they were in the process of solving DeCosta Souza’s murder.
The suspect, after hours of interrogation, reportedly admitted to being one of four persons who committed the crime.
INews understands that a very close relative of the suspect -who is presently serving time at the Mazaruni Prison for a robbery- had been implicated as one of the three other perpetrators.
Moreover, the suspect in custody at the time, during a confrontation, had confessed to being the one who used a sharp instrument to slit the throat of the victim.
