Two men were earlier today granted bail when they appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for allegedly taking money from a Stabroek News photographer, under the pretense of helping him recover his stolen camera.
It is alleged that on October 19, 2016, at Camp street, Georgetown, Romel Guttery and Jevon Patterson corruptly obtained$50,000 from Keno George, promising to help him with the recovery of his stolen camera.
On September 28, 2015, George and another photographer, Terrence Thompson, along with two models were robbed at gun and knife-point and relieved of personal belongings valued at more than $1.1M, on Hadfield Street, D’urban Backlands, Georgetown.
George’s camera is worth approximately$400,000 and the two stolen camera lens are valued at $600,000.
The duo were granted $50,000 bail each by the Magistrate and are expected to return to court on November 10, 2016 for statements.
