[www.inewsguyana.com] – Joshua Franklin appeared in the Vreed – En – Hoop Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and faced three counts of murder. He spent the weekend in the lock ups after surrendering to Police on Boxing Day. His son, Jimmy Franklin, was also charged with one count of murder.

The elder Franklin is accused of hacking to death his mother-in-law Bibi Zalima, his 9 – year – old step daughter, Ahsley Boodhoo and the man his wife was said to be having a relationship with, Floyd Drakes at Phase Two, Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Police have also charged the son with the murder of Drakes, believing that father and son worked together in hacking the furniture maker to death. The elder Franklin is also expected to face additional charges. He chopped his wife, Geeta Boodhoo, several parts of her body and she remains hospitalized.

It was just after midnight on December 18, that Franklin smashed his way through the louvre panes of the house he once lived in with his wife and children, to begin his bloody rampage.

Apart from the three persons who met their death, the couple’s other children were in the house at the time but escaped by running up the road where Police rescued them.

Franklin and his son Jimmy have been remanded to prison until March 11, 2015 when the matter will come up in court again.
