A truck driver was today remanded on a causing death by dangerous driving charge.
Forty – one – year old Suraj Ram of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable offence.
The court was told that on August 12 at Golden Grove Public Road on the East Bank of Demerara, Ram drove motor car PHH 397 in a dangerous manner causing the death of Frank Ivan Wilson.
The allegations state that on the day of the incident at about 12:00 hours, the man drove the said motor car proceeding North on the Western side of Grove Public Road at a fast rate.
The prosecutor disclosed that the road was wet and as a result, the accused lost control of his car which ended up in the path of the pedestrian Frank Ivan Wilson, who was walking in the corner of the road.
According to the prosecutor, Frank Ivan Wilson was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The Magistrate refused bail and Suraj Ram will reappear in court on September 16. [Royan Abrams]
