A post mortem examination (PME) gave the cause of death of the Triumph pensioner, whose lifeless body was discovered in his home bound and gagged, as multiple injuries to the body compounded by suffocation and blunt trauma.
Eighty-eight-year-old, Dhroowah Ramnauth, also called “Uncle Dhrub” of Surat Drive, Triumph, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was discovered by residents of his community on Saturday last with his hands bounded behind his back and his head smashed in.
According to reports, the man, who operates a grocery shop is usually checked upon by a neighbour.
However, when calls were made by the said neighbour on the day in question, he received no response which prompted him to jump the elderly man’s fence.
It was then that Ramnauth was seen lying lifeless in the kitchen while his shop had been ransacked. A large brick, suspected to be the murder weapon was also seen lying close to the man’s body.
This is reportedly the second attack carried out on the pensioner, the first of which occurred just two years ago.
An arrest is yet to be made in the crime as Police continue their investigations.
