Tourist remanded for allegedly stabbing minibus driver

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Barbados National, Mike Clark, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm was refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Tuesday (February 18) at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

DSC06203He was not required to plead to the indictable offence, which alleged that on February 15 at Holmes Street, Georgetown, with intent to disfigure, he inflicted grievous bodily harm to Shawn McAlister.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that the complainant is a minibus driver and on the day in question, he and the accused had a misunderstanding, during which the accused stabbed him several times with a knife.

Attorney- at – Law, Adrian Thompson represented Clark and told the Court that his client came to Guyana for the Mashramani celebrations and that the complainant his client with the minibus, which then caused the misunderstanding.

The Magistrate did not grant bail and Clark will reappear in Court on February 20.
