[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Village Chief accused of raping and impregnating his 10 –year – old daughter was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Wednesday, May 7.
He was not required to plead to two counts rape committed on the minor.
The matter was dealt with ‘in camera’ and transferred to the Mabaruma Court for report and fixtures on May 19.
According to reports, the girl was taken to the Mabaruma Hospital because she was felt unwell.
Medical inspections indicate that the child was sexually active and “it wasn’t a one-time act.” Reports indicate that she is four months pregnant.
