[www.inewsguyana.com] – Essequibo Magistrate, Sunil Scarce has sent a fisherman of Reliance village, Essequibo Coast to three years in jail and fined $30,000 for possession of narcotics.
Balgobin Singh also known as “one eye” appeared before the Magistrate last Friday in the Suddie Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the offence.
According to police reports, on February 21, the police were on patrol in Reliance village at around 6:30hrs when the fisherman was seen walking on the public road.He was stopped and a search was conducted on his person, when the Police unearthed three grams of cocaine. Singh was unrepresented during his Court appearance.
