[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nineteen – year – old Fazil Ali of Barr Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was today sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $37,000 on a drug trafficking charge.
He had pleaded not guilty to offence on June 17, after which a trial commenced and he was found guilty.
The Court heard that on May 15 at Albouystown, Georgetown; he had in his possession 75 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth told the Court that police found the illegal substance in the house of the accused, specifically under a mattress. The Prosecutor said the defendant told the ranks that he bought the prohibited substance to make a “hustle.”
