Three Venezuelans were today fined $30,000 each or an alternative of three months in jail when they appeared before the Chief Magistrate charged with illegal entry.
Seventy – five – year old Alphonso Salano Causael, 40 – year – old Paulo Carlos Garraway and 24 – year – old Sanchese Louis Jose, all pleaded guilty to the charge.
The allegation stated that on September 04 at Charity Essequibo, the three men entered Guyana by sea and failed to present themselves to an immigration officer.
According to the prosecutor, ranks from the Guyana Police Force stopped and searched the three men after which they were asked to produce their travel documents.
The three men noted that they had none and claimed that they came to Guyana with a small boat. They will be deported once the fines are paid or upon the completion of their sentences. [Royan Abrams]
