[www.inewsguyana.com] – Three players are gunning for an international scholarship being offered by an American Football college as the Scotia Bank/Pepsi School Football program continues to impact the sport locally.
The three players, Shaka Lewis, Ronaldo Dover and Dominique Babb were evaluated by National coaches Wayne Dover and Sampson Gilbert for a full scholarship to attend the ASA College.
They were each chosen initially on account of their academic platform and were further evaluated on their football skill by the coaches.
The academic and player evaluation will now be submitted to the Asa College Coach in New York where one will be selected
According to Program Director Colin Baker, the scholarships are in keeping with one of the main objectives of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School football program, which is to aid in the development of local footballers
ASA College men’s soccer team qualified for the USA’s National Junior College Athletic Association Division One Championships last year.
Meanwhile, the 2014 edition of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football program’s Tournament Phase will get underway on March 15 featuring 24 schools from Georgetown, Berbice and Linden.
