Three men- one of whom is a taxi driver- are now in police custody following an attempted robbery on a businessman at his home in Mabaruma District on Monday last.
Based on information received, at around 14:00hrs yesterday (Monday), three armed men were seen exiting a vehicle- reportedly being driven by the taxi driver in custody- near the home of a North West gold dealer at Wanaina Hill.
INews understands that the men reportedly pounced on the gold dealer’s family, injuring the man’s son by gunbutting him in the face, during the course of the attempted robbery.
However, they men quickly fled the scene empty handed after becoming aware that someone (the identity of the person was not revealed) had managed to contact the police.
The trio in custody are presently assisting with investigations.
