Three days have passed since the family of 56-year-old tailor, Gregory Sanmoogan, has heard from him after he left his home on Tuesday morning to visit a friend at the Diamond Police Station, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
INews understands that Sanmoogan had to conduct business in the city during the course of the day in question. However, according to reports, before he travelled to Georgetown, Sanmoogan went to the above-mentioned police station where a friend/member of the Masjid he attended was allegedly detained for questioning into an on-going matter.
Another one of Sanmoogan’s friends, who is also a member of the Masjid that the tailor attended, is said to have collected him from his Great Diamond, EBD, home and taken Sanmoogan to the Diamond Police Station for them to visit their “Islamic brother”.
Sometime after, the tailor’s friend is said to have taken him to the city and dropped him off so he could conduct his business. To date Sanmoogan has not made contact with his family and has not been seen by anyone who knows him.
A relative of the missing man told INews that he had to visit his lawyer in Georgetown then go to the bank to conduct financial transaction(s).
Following this he was supposed to pay the family’s bills and then return home.
His daughter, whose name was not given to INews stated that her family made contact with their Masjid notifying the Islamic ‘family’ that they could not locate her father.
“He has a phone and we called it but it keeps ringing out. We haven’t heard from him and nobody has seen him and everyone is worried. We are trying to deal with this and praying and hoping that he comes back safely,” the distraught daughter said.
According to her, Sanmoogan left his home fully clad in gray Islamic attire and had a pair of sandals on his feet.
