[www.inewsguyana.com] – USA based Guyanese sprinter, Brenessa Thompson did not finish the final of the girl’s under-20, 100 metres at the recently concluded Carifta Games which was held in St Kitts and Nevis, due to injury.
While the type of injury is currently unknown Thompson’s father Brennon Thompson confirmed that the wound caused Guyana’s lone representative at the games to end her meet in pain on Saturday evening.
Thompson finished third with a time of 11.81s in heat two to automatically qualify for the final.
However, the final ended with sorrow and disappointment for Thompson as she registered the DNF (Did Not Finish) due to an injury.
The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) inability to secure flights for their remaining 11 local athletes as well as four officials from Guyana was the reason why Thompson represented Guyana alone.
