[www.inewsguyana.com] – After months of preparatory work, the new franchise holders for Pizza Hut Guyana opened their doors with a grand launch on Monday, November 30 returning the familiar taste of pizza that Guyanese have been deprived of for over a year.
Pizza Hut, located next door to Exclusive Styles on Regent Street, Georgetown offers a full line of delicacies including thin crust and stuffed crust pizza. At the grand opening ceremony, Business Minister, Dominic Gaskin reflected on fond childhood memories he had sharing pizza from Pizza Hut.
The Minister congratulated the Corum Group on the venture, noting that it was a demonstration of confidence in Guyana’s economy. United States Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway who was on hand for the opening of the franchise, stated he has always been a big fan and customer of Pizza Hut back home in the US.
Holloway remarked too that the venture is a sure sign of confidence in Guyana’s economy, adding that one of his main objectives as Ambassador is to foster bilateral trade between Guyana and the US.
“I look forward to doing everything I can to make Pizza Hut here a success,” said Holloway.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Pizza Hut Guyana, Clairmont Cummings noted that one of the main objectives is to promote “opportunity, growth and stable working conditions for Guyana.”
He stated that the company will expand in the future to reach other customers in other target areas.
“This is only the beginning but I promise you that our company will continue to evolve,” said Cummings.
There are also plans to introduce the Wing Street line in early 2016 – with Guyana to pilot the launch for the South American/Latin America regions. Singh noted that at least two stores will open before the end of December 2015.
Besides the full pizza menu, outlets will also be offering Pasta Bowls, Brownies, Hershey Dunkers, Bread Sticks and Cheesey Sticks. The company expects to employ over 350 people and is aiming for six stores by 2018.
